Background
Datharm Foundation for Social Impact is implementing the Save the Children International (SCI) Immunisation Accelerator Project, funded by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), to reduce the number of Zero-Dose (ZD) children and strengthen immunisation service delivery and outcomes in Jigawa State. As part of project monitoring, learning, and evidence-generation activities, Datharm Foundation seeks to engage qualified and experienced Research Supervisors to oversee a four week field data collection exercise across selected LGAs in Jigawa State, namely Dutse, Malam Madori, Gwaram, and Kazaure.

Objectives of the Assignment

The Research Supervisors will provide technical and operational oversight for field data collection activities, ensuring adherence to study protocols, data quality standards, ethical requirements, and project timelines. They will supervise and support enumerators to ensure the collection of high-quality quantitative and qualitative data.

Scope of Work
The selected Research Supervisors will:

    • Participate in all training, orientation, and field preparation activities.

    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned enumerators and field teams.

    • Ensure compliance with approved study protocols, data collection procedures, and ethical
      standards.

    • Monitor daily field activities and provide on-the-job mentorship and support to
      enumerators.

    • Conduct spot checks, back-checks, and field quality assurance visits to verify the accuracy
      and completeness of collected data.

    • Troubleshoot challenges related to data collection tools, logistics, respondent engagement,
      and field operations.

    • Liaise with community leaders, health facility staff, and other stakeholders as required
      during field implementation.

    • Ensure daily synchronization and transmission of data from enumerators.

    • Escalate operational, technical, and security concerns promptly to the project management
      team.

    • Support data validation, cleaning, and verification processes where required.

    • Ensure field activities are completed within agreed timelines and according to project
      standards.

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualification: Applicants must possess at least a First Degree in Public Health, Community Health, Nursing, Medicine, Epidemiology, Statistics, Demography, Health Information Management, Social Sciences, or any other relevant discipline. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field will be an added advantage.

Experience and Skills

    • Demonstrated at least two (2) years of experience in research, surveys, assessments,
      monitoring and evaluation, or public health data collection activities.

    • Previous experience supervising field teams for health, immunisation, RMNCAH, PHC,
      or development-sector research projects.

    • Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative data collection methodologies.

    • Demonstrated experience using electronic data collection platforms such as KoboCollect,
      ODK, SurveyCTO, REDCap, or similar systems.

    • Excellent leadership, team management, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong report-writing and communication skills.

    • Fluency in Hausa and English (written and spoken).

    • Familiarity with the local terrain and communities within Jigawa State, particularly the
      target LGAs, will be an added advantage.

    • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

Duration of Assignment: The assignment will be for approximately four (4) weeks, including training, field implementation, supervision, quality assurance, and reporting activities.
Reporting Line: The Research Supervisors will report directly to the Project Coordinator and Lead Researchers designated by the University of Ilorin Research Team and Datharm Foundation.
