According to the World Bank estimates, Nigeria’s Maternal Mortality Rate, MMR  is still as high as 800 per 100,000 live births. This means in every 10 minutes, one woman dies on account of pregnancy or childbirth in Nigeria, giving a total of 53,000 per year.

Datharm's MCHTrack for Zero Dose Initiative is transforming maternal and child health services across Northern Nigeria. With support from the Gates Foundation, Gavi the Vaccine Alliance, and Save the Children International, we have identified and vaccinated zero-dose children across Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa states, reaching over 350 communities in the process.

In Kano alone, the project has recorded over 100,000 hospital visits for antenatal care, immunisation, and malaria treatment, facilitated the identification and referral of more than 23,955 zero-dose children for routine immunisation, and supported over 8,233 women in accessing antenatal care services. Hundreds of community health agents and health facility workers have also been trained and equipped with digital tools to strengthen data collection and frontline communication.

By combining innovative technology with community engagement, MCHTrack is improving health outcomes for mothers and children at scale. As the initiative expands to more communities, it continues to drive meaningful progress in immunisation coverage and healthcare access across the region.
